Cutting Board Care Guide

Congratulations on purchasing your new cutting board! Every board that leaves our shop has been treated with two coats of food grade mineral oil and one application of our own handcrafted Board Butter.  In order to keep your board looking new, proper maintenance is required.

Wash:

Hand wash the board on all sides with warm water and a mild dish soap, wipe off the excess water and let it air dry overnight, standing it on its edge so that the main faces of the board can dry.

Oil/Wax:

Maintaining a wooden cutting board may seem tedious, but with proper care, the same board can last you a life time!  Depending on how much your board gets used, it is recommended to apply a generous coat of food safe mineral oil on all sides at least once a month.  Let the oil soak in for 20-30 minutes and then wipe of the excess.  Next, it's time to apply your included Trailhead Wood Co Board Butter!  Applying a generous amount to all sides will help lock in the mineral oil you previously applied.  Once you are satisfied that you have covered the entire board with wax, there is no need to let it soak in.  Go ahead and wipe off the excess and your done!

Follow the simple steps above to keep your new board looking fresh and sanitary!

If you still have any questions about proper maintenance, shoot us an email and we will get right back to you!

Trailhead Wood Co. was started as an initial hobby, which turned into gifts for friends and now something I plan on sharing with the rest of the world. All wood materials are sourced local from Vancouver Island and each piece is handcrafted by me. The Island is an amazing place and I'd like to share it with you.
